HAMMOCK CARE

Cleaning Your Hammock With Spreader Bar In A Large Bucket Or Bath Tub

1- Make sure ropes are not tangled and twisted.  Prepare the hammock by securing any loose strings. Fill with water the bathtub or large bucket and add soap to the water. Hold the two ends of the hammock in your hand and bring them together and fold the hammock in half. Keep the spreader bars out of the water because wooden bars can’t be dipped in water for a long time. Make sure the hammock’s bed and the claws are soaked in the water. Let the hammock soak in the soapy water for several hours. If the hammock is really dirty, leave it in the soapy water all night.

2- Rub the ropes of the hammock with your hand or with a very soft brush. Make sure all the ropes are clean and rinse the hammock until the water runs clean. Gently untie the strings, lay the hammock flat, press out excess water, and dry it flat in direct sunlight. Do not use the hammock while drying.

3- Please see special care for cotton, natural dye or polyester.

Polyester Hammock: Fill a large bucket or bath tub with cool water. Use mild detergent and follow the steps above.

Unbleached Ecru hammocks: For hand washing, fill a large bucket or bath tub with lukewarm water. Use only lukewarm water to preserve the natural color of the rope. Only add mild soap to the lukewarm water if it is very dirty. DO NOT USE bleach, detergent or any chemicals as they will adversely affect the natural-ecru color of the rope. Follow the cleaning steps above. It is possible that your hammock may take two days to dry.

Natural Cotton Color Dye Hammock: Fill a large bucket or bath tub with cold water and soak it for two hours. If the hammock is really dirty, leave it in water a few more hours. If food stains are discovered, immediately saturate the stain with room temperature club soda or cool water, and blot with an absorbent cloth.  DO NOT USE bleach or chemicals to preserve the natural dyes. Follow the cleaning steps above, but please don’t use chemicals or strong soap. If you really want to use soap, use 2 ounces of mild neutral soap and soak for 15 minutes and move the water around every 3 minutes.  Dry the hammock flat in the shade. It is possible that your hammock may take two days to dry.
